Unique Stocking Stuffers for Adults: Handmade Gifts Under $50
Small handmade gifts that fit in a stocking (or close to it) and don't end up in a drawer by New Year's.
Stocking stuffers for kids are easy. Candy, a toy, done. Adults are tougher. You end up with lip balm, a phone charger and a pair of novelty socks, and nobody remembers any of it by February.
If you want the stocking to have one or two things people actually keep, it helps to go small and handmade. Here are the ones we'd pick from our own shop in Fallon, Nevada, all under $50.
Under $15
Cruise duck mailbox ($12 and up)

For anyone who cruises, the Take a Duck, Leave a Duck mailbox is about as good as a stocking stuffer gets. It's a tiny magnetic mailbox for a cabin door, used for the cruise duck hunt where passengers hide rubber ducks for each other. It fits in a stocking, and it's 3D printed, so it ships quickly. Add a few rubber ducks and it's a complete little gift.
Around $20
The Patchwork Crew ($20 each)
Our Patchwork Raccoon, Bunny, Elephant, Lion and Rhino are 4.5-inch 3D printed animals sculpted to look like old stitched-up stuffed toys. Button eyes, scars, a few too many teeth. They're creepy-cute rather than scary, and they make a great desk buddy for the adult who has a slightly dark sense of humor.

At $20, two of them get you to free shipping. That's a nice trick for stocking stuffers: one for one stocking, one for another.
$35 to $50
Glitter resin storage jar ($35)
The glitter resin jar is hand-poured in the glitter color you pick, with a matching lid. It's small, about 2.75 inches tall, and holds rings, hair ties, earbuds or whatever lives on someone's nightstand. Because it's resin, plan on two to three weeks.
Wrapped gift box storage box ($45)

The Wrapped Gift Box is a 3D printed box that looks like a wrapped present, bow and all. It's about 4 inches square with a press-fit lid. It's a gift that looks like a gift, which is a little funny in a stocking, and it keeps being useful as a trinket box after Christmas.
Mini pallet coaster set ($45)
The Mini Pallet Coaster Set is six tiny laser-engraved wood pallets in their own little crate. It's a hit with truckers, warehouse folks and anyone with a man cave or home bar.
Shell casing coasters ($50)
The Shell Casing Coasters are four hand-poured resin coasters in red, white and blue with real brass casings set into the pour. Good for hunters and the home bar crowd. These are resin too, so two to three weeks.
For the fantasy fan
If someone on your list reads fantasy, plays D&D or just loves dragons, a couple of options land right at the top of the budget:
- The Dragon Bowl ($50), a curled-up dragon with a bowl in its back. Put a small succulent in it, or use it for keys and change.
- The FAFO street sign ($50) isn't fantasy, but it fits the same "funny thing for the shelf" slot for the right person.
Our articulated dragons start at $60, a bit over budget, but they're worth a look if you're shopping for a fantasy fan. We wrote a whole guide on flexi dragon gifts.
A quick word on wrapping
Most of these are small enough to drop straight into a stocking, but a couple, like the coaster sets and the dragon bowl, are on the chunky side. For those, set them under the tree with a tag that says "from the stocking," or tuck a photo of the gift in the stocking and hide the real thing. It keeps the surprise without stretching out the sock.
How to build a good adult stocking
A few things that seem to work:
- One thing they'll keep. A desk buddy, a jar, a set of coasters. Something with a place to live.
- One thing they'll use up. Coffee, candy, hot sauce, a nice soap.
- One thing that makes them laugh. A toothy cobalt bunny counts.
- Match it to a hobby. A duck mailbox for the cruiser, pallet coasters for the trucker, a raccoon for the horror fan.
You don't need ten things. Three good ones beat a pile of filler. And if you're not sure what someone's into, a small desk piece is a safe bet. Most adults have a desk, a shelf or a nightstand that could use something with a little personality, and it's an easy thing to keep around instead of tossing in a drawer.
