Christmas Gifts for Fantasy Fans Under $50
Crystal Ice Dragon, a 3D printed articulated dragon with ice-crystal scales

Shopping for someone who reads fantasy, plays D&D, or has watched every dragon show twice is easy in one way: you know what they like. The hard part is finding something that isn't a mass-market mug or a poster they already own. And if you're buying for a few people, the budget adds up fast.

Here are the fantasy gifts we'd actually hand to a fan this Christmas, all $50 or less. Everything here is made by hand in Fallon, Nevada, and every US order ships free with no minimum.

Articulated dragons, $25 each

If you only read one section, read this one. Articulated dragons (some people call them flexi dragons) are printed in one piece with the joints already in place. No glue, no assembly. You take it out of the box and it bends, coils and poses like a real creature. Fantasy fans tend to keep them on the desk and fiddle with them all day.

There are three to pick from, and each one runs about 14 to 15 inches long when it's stretched out:

  • Crystal Ice Dragon, $25. The scales are sculpted to look like cracked ice instead of regular scales, so it catches the light differently from every angle. Good for the friend whose favorite house is the one up north.
  • Articulated Cherry Blossom Dragon, $25. Red or pink, with blossoms placed across the body by hand, so no two look the same. Personalization is available.
  • Rose Garden Articulated Dragon, $25. White, with a coral rose between the horns and rosebuds and spikes down the spine. Pretty, but it still has its edge.

The Crystal Ice and Cherry Blossom runs are capped at 20 and 25 pieces. When a run sells out, that model is retired, which collectors tend to like.

Two dragons for $45

If you can't choose, the Dragon Hoard bundle puts two dragons together for $45, 10% off buying them separately. There's one with Crystal Ice and Cherry Blossom, and one with Crystal Ice and Rose Garden. You'll find both on the bundles section of the shop. It's a good way to cover two people on your list, or to give one fan a pair to pose together.

The Dragon Bowl, $50

The Dragon Bowl is a young dragon curled up asleep, with its back hollowed into a bowl. The finish is a deep purple-black with blue and violet shimmer that changes as you move around it. Put a small succulent in it, or use it on a nightstand for rings and keys. It's right at our $50 limit and it's the most "grown-up" piece on this list.

Creepy-cute critters, $20 each

Not every fantasy fan is into dragons. Some lean darker. The Patchwork Crew are 3D printed animals made to look like old stuffed toys that were stitched back together, with a few too many teeth. The Patchwork Raccoon is the one people grab first. At $20 they're an easy stocking stuffer or white-elephant gift for the friend who likes things a little strange.

Glitter resin storage jar, $30.99

For the fan who collects dice, crystals or tiny figures, a glitter resin storage jar gives the hoard somewhere to live. You pick the color. One thing to know: resin is poured to order and takes 2 to 3 weeks, so order this one early.

Who these work for

  • D&D and tabletop players. A dragon on the table beside the dice tray, or a jar for the dice.
  • Fantasy readers. A dragon on the bookshelf next to the series it belongs with.
  • Teens and adults who fidget. The articulated dragons get handled more than almost anything else we sell.
  • The person who says they don't want anything. Nobody turns down a dragon.

The dragons have small spikes and lots of little parts, so we'd call them best for older kids, teens and adults, not toddlers.

Christmas timing

The 3D printed pieces (dragons, Dragon Bowl, Patchwork Crew) usually ship within 1 to 3 business days. Resin is made to order and takes 2 to 3 weeks, so get resin orders in by about November 20. Our Christmas order-by date for everything else is December 10. Shipping is free on every US order.

The short version

For a fantasy fan on a budget, start with an articulated dragon at $25. Two dragons in a Dragon Hoard bundle is $45. If you want something that looks like a real decor piece, the Dragon Bowl is $50. You can see everything on the 3D printed collection page.
